Social and Emotional Learning Curriculum ideas:
Upper Level Thinking Discussions and Extension Activities

As we prepare for a new school, unsure of what it will look like, it is imperative that educators prepare to address not only the core standards but the SEL needs of students. What is it like to be a child unable to play with friends, or a teen needing socialization to become a citizen of the world, or a young adult unsure of the future just as you enter the world. Critical  thinking and Bloom's Taxonomy in our planning has never been as important as it is in this moment.

Discussion Questions:
At this point in time, can equity be our common language?  Are the political, economical, educational, and medical systems focused on promoting equity? What common language can we create that will begin to equalize all systems and create a universal language that will help us create a new identify?

Does President Obama sanction protests as a way to establish equity?
President Obama urges our youth to bring about hope and change using a broad coalition.  "This is not an 'either/or' — this is a 'both/and' — to bring about real change, we both have to highlight a problem and make people in power uncomfortable."
